Dorothy Parker

Presenting an Entertaining Musical About a Famed Humorist

DOROTHY PARKER'S ROOM ENOUGH FOR TWO - A MUSICAL

This one-woman original musical

Show is produced/written and starring Terrie Frankel as famed American humorist, Dorothy Parker (1893 - 1967). Tonight's the Night! Dorothy Parker invites the audience to help her finish writing the autobiography she was working on at the time of her death in 1967 at the Hotel Volney in New York City. In order to move on to the 'other side' in peace, she needs to write an appropriate ending to her life. Once the highest-paid female screenwriter in history, making $5,200 per week during the Great Depression of the 1930s, this accomplished humorist, known for co-founding the Algonquin Round Table, organizing the Anti-Nazi League and Screenwriters Guild, found herself caught up in the Hollywood Blacklist Commie scare that ended her screenwriting career and forced her to return to her roots in New York City with her best friend, Playwright, Lillian Hellman. Dorothy Parker's rich life was filled with accomplishments, heartbreak, suicide attempts, laughter, loneliness, and men. Her experiences were all 'fair game' for the prose, short stories, sonnets, etc. she wrote.

Dorothy Parker's last words to a neighbor were, "Did Ernest Hemingway really like me?" By completing her autobiography, she answers her own question and writes a 'happy ending' to her life! All original music is written by Terrie and Jennie Frankel: Room Enough For Two, Quote Someone Verbatim, Tonight's The Night!, I Blew It All, Opening Night On Broadway, The Algonquin Round Table, Ship to Forever, For a Song and a Dance, Hollywood Holidays, Fashionably Black List, I'm New York, the Telephone Song, Live While You Can, and the Overture. Join Dorothy Parker as she discovers the true meaning of life in her Room Enough For Two; Tonight's the Night!
